What is Haruhi?

Haruhi is a GPL3 host for its plugins written for GNU, using JACK for audio and ALSA for MIDI. Currently there is only one developed plugin: Mikuru, virtual analog synthesizer. There are plans for LADSPA support and some MIDI effects.

Haruhi is very young and there are many features to be implemented and many bugs to be found and smashed.

And yes, Haruhi and Mikuru names are from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.

• Flexible waveform creation
• Any number of oscillators
• Any number of envelopes and LFOs that can control anything

• Program (connection) changes for complex performances (can be used also for other MIDI programs)
• LADSPA/LV² plugins support

Operating environment

Haruhi is developed under Linux 2.6. It uses JACK as audio backend and ALSA as MIDI backend, Qt 4 (since 0.2.1) as GUI library. It might be possible to port Haruhi to other POSIX platforms, but to Haruhi work reliably OS must be fast at creating threads and support thread priority inheritance/priority inversions.
